Children in Need - Going for Gold Project

The 'Going for Gold' project is funded by BBC Children in Need. £18,996.00 was awarded over two years to help young people to develop their motivations and aspirations. The project works with 16 young people, currently in Year 7 and seeks to raise motivations based upon the Olympic theme of:

  • Stronger
  • Faster
  • Higher

    Young people involved engage in 20 days of activity from October 2010 until August 2012 all of which are targeted at helping young people to develop healthy lifestyles, develop skills to enable young people to take up opportunities and help them to achieve their own aspirations and dreams through the Olympic theme. Activities that the group have so far taken part in include:

  • Healthy Eating workshops
  • Ski Lessons at Chill Factore
  • Outdoor Education activities
  • Sports activities at Bolton Arena
  • Trip to the Bridgewater Hall
  • Visit by Andy Burnham, MP
  • Manchester Aquatics visit
  • Manchester Velodrome and BMX Track
