What will I study?
The course provides opportunities to design and make 3D products using textiles as a basis. Learners will be encouraged to demonstrate fully their design and technology capability, combining skills with knowledge and understanding. They will gain an understanding of how past and present design and technology influences society when developing garments, accessories and furnishings.
How will I be assessed?
A 40 hour coursework project including a design folder with ICT evidence and a high quality 3D product 60%
Written exam 40%
What do I need?
Enjoy and be passionate about fashion/textiles. Possess good practical skills and be able to work independently and in a group. Have high standards of written work and presentation. Provide the fabrics and threads for all projects.
What could I do afterwards?
The course provides a good foundation for AS/A2 Product Design : Textiles. This qualification could then lead to a degree in Textiles/Fashion or into a job in Design or Manufacturing.

What will I study?
This course provides opportunities for investigating, designing, making and evaluating that focus on the use of food as a material.
Learners will develop the knowledge and skills to produce a realisation that is functional, aesthetically pleasing and fun to create. By the end of the course you will understand the design process as it applies to developing food products. You will carry out an extended, integrated design and make task that involves the production of a design folder and a realisation of your design. Learners are required to consider industrial practices and the application of systems and control.
How will I be assessed?
Written exam 40%
Coursework project 60%
What do I need?
Good practical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a group, high standards of written work and presentation skills. Learners must provide their own ingredients each week.
What could I do afterwards?
The course provides a good foundation for AS/A2 Design and Technology: Food. This qualification could then lead to a degree in a service related area i.e. hotel catering, retail and customer services or a food and nutrition based course.
