Modern Foreign Languages
We believe that Modern Languages play a vital role in the future of our pupils. Languages are essential in the 21st century and provide pupils with lifelong skills. Employers are keen to employ workers who can communicate with offices abroad. In modern day society we have many links with foreign countries and the ability to work with others is becoming essential.
Key Stage 3
Pupils study French in Year 7 as well as “International Investigation” which gives pupils the opportunity to develop their knowledge of foreign countries and cultures. In addition, pupils will become aware of the importance of language learning and the benefits of communicating with others across the world.
Some pupils will start their German studies in Year 8. Pupils have two lessons a week for each language.
In Year 9 pupils will continue tho study French for two lessons a week. Pupils who started German in year 8 will also continue to study German for two lessons a week.
Key Stage 4
Pupils follow the AQA GCSE in French or German.
Key Stage 5
Pupils study French and German A Level through AQA.
