Student Success
Nathan Yates who was a year 11 student at Powerwave in 2011 has been awareded an additional Certificate of Achievement for producing an extremely high standard of work in his Foundation Level 1 Diploma in construction and the built environment certificate. His work in his Principal Learning Project was to a standard of an A or *A grade
Well done to Nathan.
Year 9 Options Evenings
We will be at the Year 9 options evenings at the following schools so that you can find out more about attending the POWERWAVE Skills Centre. Dates are to be confirmed.

The Wood Worx Enterprise Scheme
This scheme was established in February 2010 in request from Schools and Companies to buy some of the excellent products that the students were creating at the POWERWAVE Centre. These include Picnic Tables, Garden Planters, Communal Benches, Raised Beds, Vegetable Boxes and Bird Tables to mention a few.
The students set up their own Enterprise scheme which allowed them to learn woodwork skills, business and management skills as well as to develop their numeracy and literacy skills. The scheme has also taught the students about environmental issues and waste management.
Since then, they have
generated a wide range of interest and have sold many products to the local community.
The efforts of the Students this year have won them a commendation from the Bolton and Bury Business Awards which were held at the Reebok Stadium.
If you wish to buy these products they are on sale at Heaton Fold Garden Centre on Chorley New Road and from POWERWAVE Skills Centre.
Students link with local Primary School
Adult learners at POWERWAVE constructed garden furniture for Chorley New Road Primary School to enable pupils to develop their 'Grow your Own' Project. Young people from the Centre supported the Adult learners with the project on their return to school in September 2010.
Students are now working on new orders and projects which are coming into the centre.
