GCSE & A-Level Information

Science is a subject to be valued and enjoyed by all students, no matter what their ability or background.  We offer courses that meet the needs of all of our students and we are proud to be inspiring the next generation of Scientists.

Key Stage 3

In Year 7 & 8:  We follow the new Key Stage 3 science framework.

In Year 9: We deliver the previous Key Stage 3 framework.

 

Key Stage 4

We offer a range of different options for students at Key Stage 4 based upon their Key Stage 3 performance.  This includes:

OCR(Examination Board) Gateway – Separate Sciences: Biology, Chemistry & Physics.  Aimed at our most able students, designed to offer challenge and prepare them for the study of A’level sciences. 

In addition OCR Gateway – Core & Additional Sciences and the OCR Nationals Science Award are offered to students again based upon their performance at Key Stage 3. 

 

Key Stage 5- Sixth Form

At Key Stage 5 we offer OCR Examination Board BIOLOGY AS/A2

OCR Examination Board PHYSICS AS/A2

AQA Examination Board CHEMISTRY AS/A2

 

The Biology, Chemistry & Physics courses are all accessible to students who have gained A*-B at GCSE.

 

AQA APPLIED SCIENCE AS/A2: This course is accessible for students who have achieved C/D or better at GCSE.  It provides a more portfolio based approach with less emphasis on examinations.
