We have a CPD programme for all staff, whereby they choose to undertake an activity in the designated CPD time.

The Advanced Skills Teachers (ASTs) at Rivington are continuously involved in research into teaching and learning, work on individual projects enriches our staff and student performance.

A member of staff, in discussion with their mentor chooses their CPD activity, this would take into account the needs of the school, department, learning team and the personal preference of the member of staff.

Each member of staff has one period of CPD per week, this is supported by their mentor through a 6 week cycle.

Week 1Mentor Meeting
Week 2Work with ASTs
Week 3Observing other lessons
Week 4Other professional development
Week 5Other professional development
Week 6Member of staff act as a mentor for another member of staff/more professional development

These activities are interchangeable between weeks.

The CPD activity could be internally or externally provided.
