Opening times

The Library is open to Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 at break, lunch, and after school until 3:30pm on Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the Library is only open to Year 7 at break and lunch but to all students after school until 3:10pm, unless closed for extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or special events. Students can visit the Library during this time to borrow books and for quiet reading or studying.

• Monday to Thursday: Every break, lunch and after school until 3.30pm
• Friday: Open to Year 7 students at break and lunch and open to all students after school until 3.10pm

Borrowing a book

Students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 can borrow three books at a time for a period of 14 days and can renew a book twice before it needs to be returned.

Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 can borrow five books at a time for a period of 14 days and can renew a book twice before it needs to be returned.

Finding a book

Our fiction books are categorised in a colour coded genre system. The books are in alphabetical order within each genre by the first three letters of the author’s surname. For example, if a student wanted to find Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, they would go to the books with a green sticker on their spine and find ROW.

If a student has any difficulty finding a book within the Library or would like some recommendations, our Librarian, Mrs Wilson, will always be happy to help.

Library WebApp

All students have access to the Library WebApp and can use their school username and password to log in by following the step-by-step guide below.

3. Type in the username and password you use to access computers in school

Visit the Library WebApp

 The WebApp enables students to search the entire catalogue of fiction and non-fiction books available in the Library. The One Search feature takes you to external websites to find out more about any topics you've searched for, which is helpful if doing research or homework.

Use the Library WebApp to:

• Reserve books - This is particularly useful if you want to ensure you get the
  opportunity to read a popular book. You will also be able to see your position in
  the reserve queue
• Track the books you have borrowed, their due dates, any overdue books etc
• Browse reading lists - These will focus on different genres, themed days/weeks
  such as Mental Health Week, authors, and recommendations from both staff and
  students
• Write reviews - This is a great way to share your thoughts and feelings about what
  you have just read, which could help someone else to decide on what to read

Library conduct

 In the Library, students are expected to be quiet and respectful of their surroundings and others. Eating or drinking is not allowed in the Library.

Students and parents/carers are responsible for any books whilst borrowed and may be liable for the cost of the book should it be damaged or lost. All books in the Library are embossed with the school name on the first few pages; this enables students and parents or carers to identify any Library books that may accidentally get mixed in with books at home.

Meet our Librarian: Mrs Wilson

“I’ve worked in education for over 12 years and always dreamed of being a school librarian.

Some of my earliest memories as a child are of reading anything and everything that I could get my hands on. I love to read a wide variety of books but particularly enjoy Young Adult and New Adult Fiction, and can often be found reading a book from the Horror, Fantasy or Romance sections of the Library.

There’s nothing I love more than recommending books to students and encouraging reluctant readers to find that one book that will draw them in.”
