Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
At Rivington and Blackrod High School and Sixth Form, we are committed to the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion for all. These principles are underpinned by our school values of Respect, Belonging, Honesty and Support, which were chosen by the individuals at the centre of this – Rivington pupils.
As a school and across the Leverhulme Academy Trust, there has been significant progress in creating a wider understanding of our broader role as a staff body in modelling equality, diversity and inclusion.
In every area of our school workforce there is a richness of diversity, with each member of staff having their own clear identity, creating a culture where there is a sense of belonging and togetherness.
Across Rivington and Blackrod there is a multitude of different ethnicities and cultures represented in our pupil body. This is one of our greatest strengths to raise awareness, as we can rely on the experience, knowledge and understanding of our pupils to implement strategies to ensure an equitable and inclusive school journey for all.
Through the action plan, developed by our Head of Key Stage 4 and members of our Senior Leadership Team, we set out to achieve the following aims:
- Students, staff and families feel a sense of belonging to the school.
- Our curriculum demonstrates representation which incorporates equality, diversity and inclusion.
- We understand the lived equality, diversity and inclusion experiences of our pupils and staff through their honest feedback.
- To ensure staff are acutely aware of societal issues, both pre-existing and current, and feel confident in their ability to confront and tackle these.
