A Message from Mr Meadows, Head of Sixth Form...
At Rivington and Blackrod Sixth Form, our mission is to support every student to achieve their potential. By providing a first-class quality of education, a myriad of personal development opportunities, and a proactive approach to pastoral care, we endeavour to transform your life. Regardless of your background, we will encourage you to discover your dreams and ensure that you leave our provision brimming with confidence, knowledge, and purpose.
An integral part of our offer is helping students to establish a vision for their future. This includes not only bespoke support to map out your future goals, but also a range of resources, talks, and group sessions to raise your aspirations and self-belief.
Whether you are studying A Levels or vocational courses, such as BTECs or AAQs, it is no secret that success in Further Education requires dedication, commitment, and resilience. Our wide range of subject choices, state-of-the-art provision, and its aspirational culture, will enable you to flourish in your academic lives. Our experienced team can provide you with all the advice, time, and resources that you need to thrive at our Sixth Form, enabling you to accomplish your academic and personal goals.
We offer a plethora of personal development opportunities, ranging from weekly enrichment choices and extra-curricular societies to leadership training and student-led community events. We are proud of the sense of belonging at our Sixth Form, where every student, irrespective of which high school you attended, is immersed into the community with ease.
The timetable of a Sixth Form student looks very different compared to high school. Not only do you have access to brand new subjects, such as 3D design, psychology, and sociology, but you are also granted more freedom, time, and flexibility to study when it suits you. We operate on a 4-day week, which includes a study day where you can work from home, as well as multiple study periods built into your days on-site. At our Sixth Form, you are treated like an adult, with an elevated sense of trust, ownership, and responsibility.
Over the two years, we will endeavour to assist you in achieving the best possible qualifications, a well-rounded skillset, and the direction to enter an ever-changing world with purpose and self-assurance.
Please take the time to read through our prospectus, which includes programmes of study, pathway information, and advice from our team. We look forward to welcoming you, and answering any questions you may have, at one of our Sixth Form open evenings, which take place in Autumn and Spring, or during one of our RBHS taster days.
We hope you continue your academic journey at Rivington and Blackrod Sixth Form.
