Rivington and Blackrod High School and Sixth Form had a full Section 5 Ofsted inspection on 21st and 22nd January 2020.

We are delighted that the inspection team recognised the improvements that had been made to the school over the last three years through the hard work of leaders at all levels, grading Leadership and Management as ‘Good’.

As you are aware, the school has undertaken a significant journey of transformation and has introduced a number of key behaviour and learning policies which are having a positive impact on our students.

We were also praised for our strong emphasis on developing the whole child through our work with the house system, our careers programme and our extensive extra-curricular timetable and therefore, Personal Development was also judged to be ‘Good’.

Our Sixth Form continues to be a strength of the school, and it was also graded as ‘Good’, which we will continue to grow and build upon.

The inspection provided us with some areas for further improvement, which we will ensure are addressed through our school improvement plan to ensure the very best education for all our young people.

Overall, we feel the report is a fair reflection of the journey we are on as a school. We have made significant changes that are having a positive impact on student outcomes, however, both the school and Ofsted recognise that we have some areas of the school that ‘Require Improvement’ to ensure that all students at Rivington and Blackrod High School achieve their very best.
