We welcome applications from students from all schools. Whether you are currently studying at Rivington & Blackrod High School or elsewhere, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and supportive transition into Sixth Form.
Entry Requirements
To study at Rivington & Blackrod Sixth Form, students must have:
- A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics
- At least Grade 5 or 6 (subject dependent) in the subjects they wish to study at A Level
- For some courses, higher subject-specific grades may be required

Open Evenings
Visiting us is the best way to experience our Sixth Form community.
Our Open Evenings takes place in Autumn and Spring. Our next Open Evening is on Thursday, 26th February 2026, from 5:30pm until 7:30pm.
Registration is essential. You will have the opportunity to:
- Meet subject teachers
- Speak with current Sixth Form students
- Tour our dedicated Sixth Form facilities
- Hear from our Head of Sixth Form

Application Process
Applications for September 2026 entry are open.
Our process is designed to be straightforward and supportive:
- Submit your online application form
- Attend a guidance meeting with a member of the Sixth Form team
- Receive a conditional offer, confirming your subject choices and GCSE grade requirements
- Enrol in August, following GCSE results
We accept applications throughout the year; however, early application is recommended to secure your preferred subjects.

Year 11 students of Rivington and Blackrod High School who wish to enter the Sixth Form will be provided with advice and guidance to help them with their choices in assemblies and class groups.
