Celebrating World Book Day 2026

Thursday, 5th March 2026

Staff and students came together today to celebrate reading as part of national World Book Day, with a range of activities designed to promote a love of books across the school.

Staff dressed up in costumes inspired by different genres, from fantasy and science fiction to romance, horror and non-fiction, sparking conversations with students about their favourite books and characters.

Across the school, departments hosted reading-themed activities within lessons, while students also took part in a number of competitions, including solving book clues displayed on classroom doors, creative book-themed door displays and the KS3 Big Book Quiz House Competition.

Key Stage 3 students also took part in a ‘Drop Everything and Read’ session, giving them the opportunity to pause their normal timetable and enjoy reading for pleasure using their Team Time reading books.

The day concluded with the KS3 Big Book Quiz House Competition, where students worked together to test their literary knowledge and represent their houses. It was wonderful to see our school community coming together to celebrate reading!
