Former Rivis Take On Land’s End to John O’Groats Challenge for MND Charity

Monday, 18th May 2026

A group of former Rivington and Blackrod High School pupils are preparing to take on an incredible new cycling challenge in support of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and its fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

After successfully completing last year’s 630 mile Western Front Way ride, the group are back in the saddle for an even bigger challenge in 2026, cycling the 940 mile route from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

The challenge will see them travel the length of the UK to help raise awareness and vital funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which supports research into MND and those affected by the disease.

Speaking about the challenge, the group said: “After last year’s 630 miles of the Western Front Way, we foolishly suggested we should try the 940 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 2026! This year we are supporting the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in their fight against MND. Many thanks to all those who donated last year.”

The former pupils are hoping the local community will once again get behind the challenge and support this important cause. You can find out more about the ride and make a donation via their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/lejog-june2026

We wish the team every success and safe travels as they prepare to take on this fantastic challenge.
