Year 11 Students Shine on GCSE Results Day

Thursday, 21st August 2025

Students at Rivington and Blackrod High School were all smiles today as they collected their GCSE results, joined by proud families, friends and staff.

It has been a day filled with celebration and reflection as students marked the end of their secondary school journey and celebrated all they’ve achieved.

Among the many fantastic results were some exceptional individual highlights, including:

  • Heather D - Achieved three grade 9’s, six grade 8’s and a Distinction star
  • Michael - Achieved seven grade 9’s and two grade 7’s
  • Olivia H - Achieved four grade 9’s and five grade 8’s
  • Ffion - Achieved two grade 9’s, five grade 8’s, two grade 7’s and a Distinction star

Head of School Mrs Walmsley said:

"I am delighted with this year’s GCSE results, which reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, the commitment of our staff and the ongoing support from parents and carers. It has been wonderful to see so many students receive the grades they’ve worked so hard for. We wish all our students the very best for their futures.”

This year’s strong GCSE achievements follow last week’s successful A Level results at Rivington and Blackrod Sixth Form, where many students achieved excellent grades and are preparing for exciting next steps.

Congratulations, Class of 2025. We are incredibly proud of your hard work and wish you the best of luck as you start the next chapter of your education.
