Summer School 2025 – A Fantastic Start for Our New Year 7s!
Friday, 22nd August 2025

Our annual Summer School was the perfect way to welcome the students joining us in Year 7 this September. Across four exciting days, our new students embraced a wide range of activities designed to build confidence, teamwork and a sense of belonging as they prepared to start their RBHS journey.
On day one, students explored our school values through a series of challenges, including Dragon’s Den-style pitches and team-building activities. Students worked together to design and build their own catapults, competing to see whose design could send an item the furthest, with some impressive launches reaching over four metres!
Day two focused on sports and team-building, with students taking on exciting Commando Joe challenges and enjoying games such as foot-rounders and zone ball. The teamwork and enthusiasm shown throughout the day were fantastic — we may even have discovered a few future sports stars!
Day Three brought even more adventure as students took part in outdoor education at the Anderton Centre. From archery and tree climbing to axe throwing and climbing walls, it was wonderful to see our students supporting each other and challenging themselves. Meanwhile, back at school, others enjoyed a lively Circus Skills workshop, full of laughter and fun.
We ended the week on a high with our final day of Summer School, which began with an exciting Science Boffin show and workshops. Students also took part in The Rivington Mystery, putting their problem-solving skills to the test to uncover who stole the House Cup!
It was a brilliant week from start to finish, filled with smiles, teamwork and new friendships. Our Year 7s were amazing and we can’t wait to see all they achieve when they officially join us in September.
