Year 7 and Year 8 Students Visit the University of Cambridge

Thursday, 16th January 2025

Our Year 7 and Year 8 students had the unforgettable experience of visiting the University of Cambridge for their Higher Education Experience Day. The day started with a tour, where students were inspired and impressed by the library at Trinity Hall.

Following the tour, students took part in interactive sessions, starting with a quiz to test their knowledge of the campus and the history they had just explored. This was followed by a fascinating talk on archaeology, where students were captivated by the opportunity to admire and analyse Bronze Age artefacts found in Peterborough.

We are incredibly proud to share the feedback we received from the staff at the University of Cambridge:

"The students of Rivington and Blackrod High School were the best group of students that we have had visit us for the Higher Education Experience Days, since we began running these in September. Their engagement was excellent, asking lots of questions and providing great answers. It was a pleasure to meet such pleasant, intelligent, young people."

The trip was not only a valuable insight into higher education but also a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage with academic life at one of the world’s leading universities.

Well done everyone!
